The Full Story
China Has Places That Look Like Switzerland. Here's How To Actually Visit Them.
Most people picture China as skyscrapers, crowds and ancient temples. Nobody pictures this. Turquoise alpine lakes framed by snow-capped peaks. Rolling green hills covered in wildflowers. Dense pine forests where rivers run so clear you can see the riverbed. These places exist in China — and most people have no idea. Here is where they are and how to get there.

-
The lake — Shifts from turquoise to deep jade as the light changes through the day, surrounded by dense pine and birch forest that turns gold in autumn.
-
Baihaba Village — Nicknamed "God's Private Land", a remote Tuvan settlement offering sunrise mist, starry nights and horse trekking through untouched birch forest.
-
Hemu Village — A remote border settlement of Kazakhs and Tuvans with spectacular autumn foliage from late September to early October.
