Trip Itinerary:

DAY ONE   Yining city arrival

Welcome to Xinjiang! Upon your arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the arrival hall of Yining Airport during the designated time of arrival, and then drive you to your hotel. The rest of today is yours to explore the city.

DAY TWO  Yining City -Sayram Lake- Yining

Today you'll have a full day to exlore the iconic Sayram Lake, 2.5 hours' driving from Yining, Sayram Lake is the largest alpine lake in Xinjiang, renowned as "a pearl of the Silk Road". In Kazak, sayram means 'blessing'. With crystal blue water, ducks and swans coasting on the surface, cottages scattered the foothills of the mountains, cedar trees covering the mountain range, horses and sheep call on the mountain slope, Sayram Lake is a true fairyland.

The warm and humid air of the Atlantic ocean crosses the Eurasian continent of 5000 kilometers and finally comes here and turns into the lake, so it is also called "the last tear of the Atlantic ocean". Summer is the best seasons to visit Sayram Lake. From June to August, the Mongolian people celebrate the 'Nadam Fair'. Kazaks also join in the festival, during which horse-racing, wrestling and folk songs and dance are performed.

After visiting the Sayram Lake, you'll drive back to Yining (2.5h) and stay overnight.

DAY THREE   Yining City Tour - Zhaosu

Enjoy a relaxing morning touring around the beautiful Yining City. You'll visit the exotic Kazanqi Street and Hexagram Street, where you'll meet local Uyghur people, wonder in the colorful alleys, at the local specialty ice cream, and have unique Yining food as lunch.

In the afternoon, you'll drive to Zhaosu City. The scenery along the road is stunning. In summer, lavender blossom and rapeseed flower spread the vast countryside of Zhaosu, creating a rolling sea of purple and yellow. You'll have free time exploring the flower field, and stay overnight in Zhaosu City.

DAY FOUR   Zhaosu - Xiata Ancient Trail - Tekes

Today is for hiking! You'll have an amazing hiking experience in the stunning Xiata Ancient Trail of Tianshan Mountain. After breakfast, drive to Xiata (75km 1.5h). As one of Xinjiang's "three best trekking routes" (the other two are Wusun and Langta), Xiata Ancient Trail is relatively less challenging, and perfect for a short one-day hiking that's suitable for all guests. You'll hike along the Xiata National Park and pass by rushing rivers, virgin forests, snow-capped mountains, beautiful valleys, blue lakes, vast grassland and meet rare animals. You'll spend full day in this pristine natural paradise, and to Tekes and stay overnight.

DAY FIVE   Tekes - Qiongkushitai

Today you'll take an off-the-beaten-path tour to Qiongkushitai, a nomad village on Kalajun Grassland at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, and the starting point of the renowned Wusun Ancient Trail. The ethnic Kazakhs have lived here in their wooden houses for hundreds of years. After 3 hours driving from Tekes along country roads, you'll arrive at this peaceful village truly secluded from outside world. You'll spend a full day hiking and exploring the untouched nature, and you'll stay overnight at the cozy guesthouses in the beautiful village.

DAY SIX   Qiongkushitai Village -🥾hiking to- Karajun Grassland - Tekes

Today is another big highlight of the trip! - an in-depth hiking from Qiongkushitai to vast Kalajun, passing by some of west xinjiang's most spectacular grasslands. As one of the stupendous travel destinations along the silk road, the grassland between Qiongkushitai and Karajun is the best place where you can enjoy the diverse scenery and magnificent grassland. The scenic area is so large, sceneries includes snow peaks, forests, and the endless grassland. The area is also home to the Kazak nomad group. If you are lucky, you'll see they hunting on horses with their falcon on the arm.

As an important part of the world natural heritage of Tianshan Mountain in Xinjiang, Kalajun Scenic Area is the region with the richest biodiversity and the highest aesthetic value. You'll spend full day for a complete hiking in this stunning place. You'll drive to Tekes at night.

DAY SEVEN   Tekes - Nalati Grassland

Today you'll head for Nalati Grassland,  a sub-alpine meadow of the Gongnaisi Grassland that is one of the four largest grasslands of the world. Owing to its high altitude and steep terrain, it is also called ‘The Sky Grassland’.

Since ancient times, the grassland has been a famous pasture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The beautiful scenery here is beyond description with boundless grassland, white yurts, herds of sheep, cows and horses, continuous mountains and upright cedars on cliffs.

From June to late September, the vast expanse of lush grassland is dotted with colorful wild flowers. The surrounding snow mountains, white clouds, blue sky make this grassland more charming. Thus, summer is the best time to visit this wonderland. Many activities are held in this ‘Cradle of Kazaks’. The hospitable Kazak herdsmen receive guests with their particular custom and culture.

DAY EIGHT  depart from Xinyuan Nalati Airport

After breakfast, you'll transfer to Xinyuan Nalati Airport and fly home. (flights will transfer in Urumqi City).
