For nationals of the countries listed below (enjoying China's visa-free entry policy), only a photo of the passport information page is required to apply for the Tibet Travel Permit.

Oceania (2 Countries): Australia, New Zealand.
Asia (7 Countries): Brunei, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain.

For those residing in China on a Work (Z) Visa, the following documents are required:

Document Usage Process
During the Trip : Upon arrival in Tibet, the tour guide will typically collect and hold the original Tibet Travel Permits for the entire group to facilitate presentation at any required checkpoints. After the trip concludes, this document is retained by the travel agency for archival purposes and cannot be kept by the individual traveler.

✨ Essential Travel Advice
Plan First : First, finalize your basic travel itinerary (dates, desired destinations) with your travel agency to apply for the Tibet Travel Permit. Do not purchase tickets to enter Tibet before securing the permit.
Border Areas : If your itinerary includes controlled border regions such as Mount Everest Base Camp, Ngari (Ali), or Shannan, an additional "Border
Permit" is required besides the Tibet Travel Permit. Your travel agency can assist with this application.
Visa Compatibility : A Tourist (L) Visa is the most straightforward for applying for the Tibet Travel Permit. Holders of other visa types (e.g., Work Z visa, Student X visa) must provide the additional supporting documents as requested by the travel agency.
